New Flokati Rugs
Hellenic Rugs takes another page from history with the manufacture of the New Flokati collection. Flokati rugs have long been part of Greek tradition, with historians who even believe that Alexander the Great himself kept warm using a flokati rug during those long winter months.
Flokati Rugs are hand-woven, sewn, and then subjected to tremendous water pressure from the friction baths connected to the famous Pindos Mountains waterfalls. This extreme washing is done to make the backing swell and for the pile itself to unravel and become fluffier. After a thorough sun-drying, each Flokati rug is carefully inspected to ensure that only rugs that meet the highest quality standards make it to the market.
